Particle dynamics from meV to MeV
In this talk I will discuss application of classical particle dynamics in the investigation of phenomena occurring at various energy scales. In the "room temperature" domain I will talk about recent simulations on the elastic properties of pure and nanotube-doped spider silk. In the "intermediate energy" domain I will present a novel computational method aimed at extracting the frequency and wavevector dependent dielectric function of solids from the experimental energy-loss spectra of keV electrons impinging on bulk materials.
Finally, I will present some recent results on the classical approximation of heavy-quark dynamics in abelian models of quark-gluon plasmas.
